encounter has changed almost every method of traditional church, but has kept what is most important – the message of Christ, His cross, death, and resurrection.
brief history
after meeting for a year as a Saturday night service at Ovilla Road Baptist Church, encounter began as a mission from the church in 2005. with their full blessing, encounter began with a desire to exist as a new expression of church in this generation. beginning with 50 committed people, encounter continues to expand its base of passionate Christ-followers. there are now over 200 involved in the active life and community of the church.
in october 2009, we added a second location for our Sunday morning gatherings, taking the vision and mission of encounter 60 miles south to Waco. for more information on our Waco location, visit www.encounterthis.com/waco.
