today’s reading from The Message:

1 john 3:1-3

1 What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to.

2-3 But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own.

birthed, fathered, and belonging to God – awesome!

I recently read some interesting thoughts/comments about the early church from counterparts of their day.

The author was writing to Roman leaders and commented that Christians are very odd in their behavior. They call one another sister or brother when there’s clearly no family ties involved. He also commented that they share and love with one another in their fellowship, as well as those outside their fellowship just like genuine families do.

Imagine if we all took our relationship to our fellow Christian brothers and sisters that seriously today. Imagine how strong that would make our relationships and churches.

“But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning.”

Jonathan you hit the nail right on the head. I think that is a focus that we all need to have in our walk with Christ. Think of how much God would bless us.
