an encouraging word
I asked our community group leaders to share some of the things they’ve seen God doing in their own lives or the lives of their groups recently.
I believe it’s so vital to share our wins from time to time and share what God is doing in our lives.
In fact Hebrews basically says do it – no questions asked.
“Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25
In response to my request I received an email from Jeff King who shares the following:
I want to share some testimony of God’s presence in my life because of prayers and reading scripture…..to
God be the glory!
My Spirit for God and His word and Compassion has been weak, the past weeks. I’ve worked more hours and
haven’t spent time with my christian family (Encounter peeps). I just haven’t been living to my standard of prayer and reading God’s word. I prayed yesterday, that God speak to me, as I confessed my sins and wanted to re-center my spirit on God. I believe God’s speaks, personally, to me when I read scripture that’s relevant/applicable to my recent situations, or thoughts, or experiences. I’m encouraged when I open the Bible at random and the words apply to my life, in the present.
This Rhema is what keeps me home with God!
This morning I opened the Bible(at random) to Haggai. I read the verses below:
Haggai 1:5-6 ( NKJV ) Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!
“You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
Haggai 2:1 ( NKJV ) In the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying:
This encouraged me because of some recent studies I’ve done with the Waxahachie-Cofield group and some Tony Evans sermons I’ve been listening to recently. Last Friday, the topic was tithing. So, I’ve been “considering my ways” on tithing and my work wages(remembering what I said to small group about this). As I read Haggai 2:1, I was intrigued to read the whole book. I found the prophecy may relate to some of the information I learned from Tony Evan’s sermons on Revelation.
I learn today that “Haggai” translated means “my feast”. Yesterday, Tony spoke on the battle of Armageddon and the bird feast that occurs.
So, what is all this?……..I’m assured God is omnipresent and sovereign and merciful, and I want to encourage everyone to read and pray!!
God bless you,
Jeff
