Washing their feet

Date: 02 September, 2009  |  Posted By: Jonathan Blundell  |  Category: Faith, Take Action

The story of Jesus washing the disciples feet doesn’t seem to fit into our modern western civilization.

We wear shoes or flip flops everywhere we go. And if our feet get dirty, there’s always a faucet nearby where we can wash them off and keep going.

But for some, that’s not always possible.

A mission team to Kenya found this out all to personally.

The NewSpring Church medical missions team discovered what a lack of foot-washing and jiggers can do to children in in Depatus, Kenya.

The take home quote ::

“I think the reason we’re here doing this is its because its what Christ would have done.”

May our community of faith be moved to wash the feet of our neighbors, spiritually and literally.

If you’re interested, there are a number of organizations working to lesson this problem.

The first is charity:water, which has a goal to provide clean drinking water (fresh water wells) to every person on the planet.

The second is Tom’s Shoes, which has a goal of providing new shoes to children around the world.

When you see this story, what vision or plan do you see for our community? How will you make a difference in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas and the world?
