RSS, also known colloquially as “really simple syndication” is a web format used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. an RSS document contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that’s easier than checking them manually.
RSS content can be read using desktop or web software called an “RSS reader”, “feed reader” or an “aggregator.” the user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. the reader then checks the user’s subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
encounter offers several public RSS feeds from our website (see above). we recommend Google Reader as an easy to use feed reader that collects all your favorite feeds in one place and makes them accessible anywhere you can access the web. of course you’re more than welcome to use any RSS reader you choose. we also offer several e-mail based feeds that send a daily summary of new encounter news to your e-mail inbox.
to stay up to date with all things encounter simply click on the selected feed below and select your preferred online reader from the list, or right click on the feed and copy the link into your favorite RSS reader.
